Última Estación

Published in 2002, with the sponsorship of the Culture National Funds for the Arts (FONDEC), Última Estación is a tour through the almost 400 km of the steam train's railroad in Paraguay. The 78 photographs that are part of this book were taken between 1989 and 1991, time in which the railroads already showed their slow way to extinction. Throughout the roads between the cities of Asunción and Encarnación, plus the road San Salvador-Abaí, the camera mainly captured the faces of passengers and railroad workers, main witnesses of the train's decadence, and the life that is generated throughout the tracks. The camera that was used for this essay was a 35mm and the film was Tri-X. The book contains texts of the photographers Jesús Ruiz Nestosa and Jorge Sáenz, of the historian Luis Verón and of the author.

Fin de Zona Urbana

Fin de Zona Urbana was published in 2001 by Faro para las Artes, institution that organized the Jacinto Rivero Contest, in which this essay was prized. The book contains 24 photographs, of which the main topic is the visual pollution of the Paraguayan cities. The indiscriminate publicity and the informal commerce that are present on the streets were captured between 1997 and 2000 by a 6x6 medium format camera, which is normally used to make portraits. As an introduction for the book, there are two critical essays, written by the writers Jesús Ruiz Nestosa and Adriana Almada. Some of the pictures are accompanied by the author’s comments. All the texts are translated to English.

Entrecasa

Trough out seven years, from 1990 to 1997, the house and the world of games that it represents for two children were photographed by a 35mm camera and Tri-X film that got integrated in the fun by playing not only with the kids, but also with light, angles and shapes. The context of everyday life’s situations, very spontaneous and childish, is recorded in a book that was published by the author in 2002. Entrecasa includes 18 photographs and texts that were written by Jesús Ruiz Nestosa and the author.
